Open Ditch Renovation Part 2: MSM Turf & Quinclorac (S2E18)

Mixing some MSM Turf and Quinclorac should produce a potent solution to eliminate the Bahia, St. Augustine and Crabgrass still present in my Bermuda ditch. In Part 1 the Spectracide Weed Stop worked quite well at killing the weeds in my ditch, and only left me with the three previously mentioned grasses.

My ditch measures roughly 4,000 sq ft and is riddled with various grass types. With most weeds gone, this open ditch renovation will deal with trying to eliminate at least 3 different grass types: Bahai grass, Crabgrass (is this a grass type?), and St. Augustine.

Quinclorac

Quinclorac 75 DF is a water-soluble selective post-emergent herbicide that kills broadleaf weeds and grasses in tolerant turf species.

My hope is that this herbicide will take out the Crabgrass and St. Augustine.

MSM Turf

Quali-Pro MSM Turf Herbicide is a high-quality granular formula that helps control unwanted broadleaf and grassy weeds on ornamental turf, golf courses and sod farms. This contains 60% Metsulfuron Methyl as its active ingredient which is effective against weeds like Aster, clover, dollarweed, bahiagrass, foxtail, bittercress, henbit, buckhorn, chickweed, plantain, dandelion, and more. It is absorbed through the roots and works by blocking cell division to prevent weed growth. It is labeled for use on Bermudagrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Fine Fescue, and St. Augustinegrass turf areas.

My hope is that this herbicide will take out the Bahia grass.

The Bermuda did take a small hit, but that is probably due to the temperatures. It was close to 85 when I applied it and quickly jumped to 95 within 3 days of application. I expect the Bermuda to fully recover if we can get some rain. I plan to fertilize it soon.
